Anthology

Submission Guidelines

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU SUBMIT
  • Participation in the anthology is open to active members of The Writer's Block only (meaning dues paid in full).
  • One page of your 40-page section will be devoted to YOU! So, technically, you have 39 pages because one page will be reserved for your bio (mandatory), photo (optional, but highly encouraged), and dedication(s)/acknowledgements, etc.
  • All contributors must attend 4/6 Planned Critique Sessions (PCS), beginning in September and ending in February. PCS is held monthly, including the summer and holiday months. The limit for PCS is ten pages per month. All submissions must have cycled through PCS by the end of January.
  • Once the PCS process is complete, you will  submit your bio (short - one to two paragraphs), photo (optional), and submission.
  • A photo shoot is planned for February for those who desire/need a headshot. Photo fees are included in anthology fees and dues.
  • All members who participate agree to assist with the marketing and selling of the anthology.
  • All members who participate will receive two free copies of the anthology. Additional quantities of books may be purchased at the wholesale rate.
  • Participating members will share the cost of publishing the anthology. Estimated expenses include cover design, editing, formatting, file conversion, printing, and shipping. The anthology will be published in both print and ebook formats. We anticipate total production costs to fall between $2,000 and $5,000. An estimated per-member contribution will be calculated once the final number of contributors is confirmed.
  • You must declare your intention to participate by September 1st using this link.

1. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submissions are accepted between August 1st to September 30th and published in December of the following year. All genres are welcomed, and you can submit with or without an agent, from anywhere in the world.

  • If you are strictly submitting all poetry, the limit is five poems total (which may or may not fill 40 pages).
  • If you are submitting short scripts, you must submit the written version, but it will be performed and published in audio version. However, you will have creative input on the production of the audio performance.
  •  All submissions must be in English and previously unpublished in print or online.
